What Is An Expunction ?

The term expunction and expungement mean the same thing- erasing your criminal record in regard to a particular charge or conviction.  In North Carolina, if you are arrested then you have a criminal record, even if that charge is dismissed or you are found Not Guilty at trial.  The only way to remove the arrest and/or conviction is to petition the court for an expungement.

The purpose of the expungement is to delete your criminal record and restore you to where you were prior to the arrest.  In order to assess your eligibility we will need to examine the nature of the charges, the date of offense,  and your criminal history.

North Carolina has recently changed laws which allow for dismissals and non-convictions before July 1, 2020 to be expunged more easily.

Call us today and let us help determine if you are eligible for expungement of your criminal record.
